サイト名である「Japanical（ジャパニカル）」は、私たちが作った造語です。

1. Japan + ical = 「日本的な」「日本に関する事」

「Japan（日本）」に、「～的な」「～に関する」という意味を持つ接尾辞「-ical」を組み合わせました。 私たちが紹介したい「日本的な事柄」をストレートに表現しています。

2. 「Calligraphy（習字）」への敬意

私たちは、日本の文化を紹介するだけでなく、日本の文字である「漢字」や「カタカナ」の造形的な美しさや、その背景にある物語に強く惹かれています。

The Meaning Behind “Japanical”

The name “Japanical” is a portmanteau we created, blending two core concepts that define our mission.

1. Japan + -ical: “Pertaining to Japan”

First, we combined “Japan” with the suffix “-ical,” which typically means “relating to” or “pertaining to” (as in “historical” or “topical”). This directly expresses our mission: to share all things “Japan-ical.”

2. An Ode to “Calligraphy”

Second, the name is inspired by our deep respect for “Calligraphy” (書道, Shodo).

We are deeply fascinated by the visual beauty and rich history of Japanese characters—Kanji and Katakana. Our name “Japanical” is our nod to this vital artistic heritage, reflecting our commitment to celebrating Japan’s written culture.
